I am Michelle Green, candidate for HCS School Board District 9. I am a mother of two sons, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Family values and traditions are very important to me as a woman of faith. As a native of Horry County, I am a product of HCS. I am a thirty year veteran of HCS where I served in various roles.

- Create a premier education system that produces students that can compete with students from all over the country.
- Create a system that graduates students with 21stCentury workforce skills to allow for success in the workplace.
- Create safe schools that are conducive to learning and work.
- Recruit and retain a quality employee workforce.
- Provide a competitive wage for employees that adequately compensates for the level of work expected.
- Work with the board to create a systematic growth plan for Horry County Schools.
Responsible Leadership
Accountability ensures integrity and effectiveness. I will hold school board members, administrators, and staff accountable, fostering a culture of responsibility.

1. Why are you running for public office, more specifically the School Board? I have always been interested in running for the School Board. Frequently throughout my career, I would comment that when I retire, I will run for School Board. This would allow me to continue to serve the students and communities of Horry County.
2. What qualifies you to run for Horry County School Board? I am a thirty-year veteran of Horry County Schools. I have worked in several attendance areas in various capacities. I have served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, HR director, and principal. In those roles, I worked alongside teachers and staff to create a warm welcoming school environment with high expectations for students and staff. I served as an assistant principal at the middle school level, HR director where I learned the innerworkings of recruiting, hiring and employee retention. I also worked directly with the procurement and budget departments. That wealth of knowledge has served me well as a primary, intermediate, and middle school principal. I believe my vast first-hand knowledge of schools makes me the perfect candidate to serve on Horry County School Board.
